| Edwin Epstein has served as Head of School of Carmel School since August 2001. He moved to Hong Kong in 2001 together with his wife Judith, from Santiago, Chile where he founded the Maimonides School. Mr. Epstein with his experience - which includes more than 30 years in Jewish education, during which he founded two schools, and directed 500-student community day school in Vancouver - has a passion for and commitment to high standards. Mr. Epstein built schools and enjoys taking schools to the next level of development. He at the same time maintains the unique atmosphere of warmth, caring and tolerance. He has a bachelor's degree in Near Eastern Languages and Literature from the University of California at Berkeley, a master's degree in Educational Administration from Indiana University, and has done further course work at both the University of Missouri and at Israel's Bar Ilan University's Lookstein Cente | ![]() |
| Lauren Goldman Brown is originally from the U.S. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Government from Oberlin College, Ohio and her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Bank Street College of Education in New York. Lauren's first job was teaching Grade 3 in public school in the South Bronx, New York and then she spent two years in public school in Manhattan teaching combined Grade 3/4 and Grade 4/5 classes. Lauren has been at Carmel School for 13 years. She was a classroom teacher for 3 years and a subject teacher (English and Social Studies) for 6 years. She was the Language Arts Coordinator for 3 years, Middle School Coordinator and Deputy Principal for 3 years, and this is her sixth year as principal. Lauren is the mother of three sons, one finishing Grade 1, one almost 3 and one about to turn 1. | |
| Kaisha Chow has been the School Manager since March of 2006. Kaisha is originally from Shanghai, and in her third year of Medical School, she had a chance to go to the U.S. where she initially studied biology but switched to business at Texas A&M and the University of Houston. After graduating, she worked in the U.S. for 4 years as an assistant comptroller in a chemical company. She then moved to Hong Kong where she worked for the Hong Kong office of the same company for a year and then worked as an interior designer for two years. Kaisha was appointed by a U.K. company to work as a general manager in mainland China for 3 years. The company then sent her to the U.K. to pursue her master's degree in Business Administration at the University of Leicester, while working for them for another year. She then took on a position with the U.K. government as a financial officer for three years and then after moving back to Hong Kong, she has been at Carmel School. She is currently pursuing a second master's degree in Human Resource Management through the University of Leicester/Hong Kong University. | ![]() |

Yael Hadar is our new Director of Development. She will initiate in the cultivation and promotion of school donors, ongoing strategic planning, assist with fundraising and development planning, recruitment of students, donors, and oversee school public relations. She will also begin networking for the expansion of the school’s premises, its community presence, and fiscal support for new projects and school initiatives. |
