Carmel School, the Hong Kong Jewish Community Day School, is seeking a dynamic and qualified educator to establish a High School and serve as its founding Principal. This will take the existing School which ends at G8, from G9 through to G12 over the next several years. With the successful launch of the High School, the Middle School grades will also come under the management of the High School.
The Principal will recruit and lead the faculty as well as design the curriculum. The Principal would attract existing students coming up through the Middle School by working with the students, their parents and the community as a whole. The successful applicant would be involved in all aspects of planning the opening of the High School.
Qualifications and Experience
• Masters or Advanced Degree in Education with experience in Jewish and secular studies
• Teaching experience in a college preparatory program
• Proven administrative experience in a Jewish school, preferably with an integrated curriculum of Jewish and Secular studies
• Proven success in working with High School students and their parents
• Budgeting and financial management competency
• Experience in human resource management, staff recruitment and development
• Experience and understanding of an (international) accreditation process
• Good understanding and working knowledge of curriculum design in an international setting including but not limited to the International Baccalaureate
• Experience in working in a diverse and international community would be an advantage
• Existing relationships with tertiary institutions is an advantage and the ability to develop such relationship in future is a requirement
