Over 20 parents joined us on Thursday morning for our fourth PYP workshop in our series on 'Making the PYP Happen'
Co-Curricular Activities (CCA)
As an International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum School, the Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) programme incorporates Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) to educate learners through experiential learning, as well as driving the Carmel School Association and IB values. The programme aims to develop lifelong learners, inquiring, knowledgeable and caring citizens of the Hong Kong and Jewish community.
Our Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) Program strives to bring together students, teachers and the community to undertake activities that encourage a lifelong love of learning. CCA is an umbrella term for all of Carmel School Association's after-school programmes in creative, academic, sporting and service fields. It also connects directly with the Global Contexts element of the IB Middle Years Programme and the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) element of the IB Diploma Programme.
All High School students choose one CCA programme on a Monday that runs for a minimum of two hours every Monday throughout the academic year. There are also optional CCA programmes that students can choose from on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the year.
Carmel Elementary CCA
Elementary activities run from Monday to Thursday and include a range of sports, arts and crafts, logic and programming and dance activities. Facilitated by in-house and external providers, our programme is tailor-made to complement the PYP framework.
After School Activities (ASA)
At the Shau Kei Wan campus, Grade 4-5 students are required to choose a semester long After-School Activity (ASA) programme that is incorporated within their school curriculum (mandatory). It also allows students to have extra time to train in the sport in which they wish to represent the School. There are no additional charges for these activities.
Elsa High School CCA
At Elsa High School we offer a unique programme that allows students to expand their learning from a Creative, Active and Service (CAS) perspective. Each CCA is year-long as the focus is to develop commitment, patience and skill throughout the academic year. Monday CCA is compulsory for all Middle Years Programme (MYP) students and each programme has a fee to cover equipment, external coaching, external facilities and transportation. All sport programmes are coached by top quality external coaches. Students can then compete in the International School Sports Federation of Hong Kong (ISSFHK).
