Grade 2 Weekly Overview (13 May)

It's been another quick and meaningful week of learning. Let's have a look at our learning activities this week:

Literacy:

They wrote down their weekly homework grid and spelling list and reviewed the spelling words by doing word work as usual. They had more practice with contractions and they checked out new reading books from our TLC room as well.

Math:

They were introduced to data handling this week. As a class, we created a bar graph together on "which natural disasters are you most interested in?" They learned that a bar graph needs to have a title and they learned what to include on the x and y-axis. They also created their own bar graph about "what survival kit they would pack when a disaster happens".

Inquiry:

We launched our new unit this week about natural disasters. Our central idea is that "Disasters are forces that can impact our world". We did a pre-assessment with the students by asking them to list different types of disasters,  how disasters affect the environment, and where disasters happen most often. After that, we showed students pictures and videos of different natural disasters.

Shabbat shalom!
