 Grade 5 Newsletter (23 September)

It’s been such a productive week for the Grade 5 students with a well-deserved long weekend, in the end, celebrating Rosh Hashanah. Shana Tova to you and yours! This week, we were very fortunate enough to have two volunteers/risk-takers, Zoe and Jacob, who have initiated reflecting and sharing what we learned in class.

I hope you have a restful weekend, Shabbat Shalom.

Kind regards,

Ms Sharon

What did we learn this week?

Shared by Zoe and Jacob

UOI - Throughout the week, we learned about how to create a healthy balanced menu and got homework to complete. Other than that, Ms Val visited us on Thursday and discussed puberty which is crucial for us to know as we are growing and becoming teenagers!

Literacy - This week, we revised our grade 4 spelling words. We had around 50 words to spell in a certain amount of time. Some of the words are stuck in our brain, and some slipped away, so that is why we revised the Grade 4 words.

Math - We learned about the history of numbers and explored further the Roman Numerals that worked by addition and subtraction, and they use similar letters to I,V,X,D,M,C, L.

PSPE/Wellbeing - We discussed why reading is important and wrote down how we can make reading more interesting/fun. Ms Sharon gave us a reading menu which will help us stay engaged with reading. As part of UOI - we started Reading Buddies with the younger grades (G1 and Kindergarten). We are also learning the power of “YET”, which is one of the ways to use the growth mindset.
