On Wednesday 26 November, our class visited the University of Hong Kong (HKU), where we toured the engineering faculty and saw an impressive range of student projects. One of the highlights was trying a claw machine built by engineering students — I even coded the claw to move on the right axis to pick up the prize, which gave me a fun insight into real engineering work!
We also learned about HKU’s VAYU Project, the team that built a robotic fish which set, and later broke, the Guinness World Record for the fastest 50m swim by a robotic fish. As a swimmer, I was especially amazed by the speed and precision they achieved.

Another standout moment was seeing the Formula Student race car developed by HKU students. The team, which ranked 3rd overall in 2019, aims to compete with a full-scale prototype in future competitions.
Overall, the visit was inspiring and showed us how creativity and dedication can lead to incredible achievements in engineering. It was a great learning experience. Thank you to Mr. Donnoli for arranging the visit and accompanying us!
