Our Junior Robotics team competed in the VEX IQ Hong Kong Tech Challenge at Hong Kong Science and Technology Park on Sunday, 26th of January. It was an amazing experience for our team, as we competed with over 60 teams throughout Hong Kong. The students trained hard during the Fall to design, build and perfect their design. Here Xanthus (Grade 8) talks about his experience.

Mr. Sunny Ma, Robotics Programme Director

Xanthus (Grade 8):  We thought we were prepared for the robotics competition, as we did quite a lot of practice. However, as we saw how complex and sophisticated the other team’s robots were, we realised we could have spent more time designing and building a more complex robot.

Strategising with the other teams was not easy, we had to work with them to create a plan to get as many goals as possible, all the while having to incorporate passes. Even though we just missed out of the knockout round by four places, it was a huge improvement compared to last year. We look forward to going back next year to hopefully qualify for the knockout competition!
