On Wednesday 27 August, the U14 Girls had their first match of the season against ISF. We arrived at the pitch and started to warm up - we hadn’t yet had a training session together!
Just 10 minutes later the whistle blew for kickoff. Although it was an extremely hot day we all played our best and started strong, but the other team kept fighting and it was tough going. We had our strongest players on and with excellent team work we were so close to scoring a goal: sadly, it just was not meant to be.
We were grateful for the half time whistle, so we could all have a drink of water. We made substitutions and got back on the field. Unfortunately the other team got control of the ball and scored to make it 1-0 it ISF. No matter what, we all pushed and did the best we could but we just couldn't get a goal.
The last quarter came and we were all so tired. We ended with our best players on the pitch to try and secure a goal but we just couldn't get there. Unfortunately we lost 1-0 to ISF. We all played very well, showed great sportsmanship, and I am certain we will secure a victory in our next match. A big thank you to Mr Banks for accompanying us and supporting us through this first difficult game.
