On Wednesday 12 March, students from Elsa High School had the opportunity to participate in the ISSFHK track and field mini meet. When we stepped onto the track, we felt a mix of excitement and determination, knowing that this event was not only an opportunity to compete but also a stepping stone toward the Championships in 2 weeks time.

We participated in track and field events, from the 60m dash to the shot put. The atmosphere at the meet was both competitive and supportive. Seeing athletes from different schools come together to showcase their hard work and dedication was inspiring. There were plenty of new personal bests and School records as well. Akira from Grade 8 smashed the Grade 7-8 high jump record, Peter from Grade 10 managed to equal the Grade 9-10 high jump record and so much more. As for me, this was a good opportunity to get back into some sprinting as I haven’t run in a while, and after today, I am a lot more confident going into the championships because now I have a good baseline that I can refer to.

Another big highlight of this meet was the strong sense of teamwork and support amongst the students . We motivated each other, acknowledged our progress, and reflected on our performances in order to improve. I truly appreciate being part of a team that is both committed and enthusiastic.

Thank you to Mr. Baldwin. We’re buzzing with anticipation for the championships!
