The Elsa High School U14 Boys football team started the season strong with a 2-2 draw last week against AIS. The next challenge was to step it up versus new kids on the block, Stamford International School. On an overcast and sticky Thursday afternoon, 14 squad players travelled to Kwun Tong to do just that - putting 6 goals past SIS and keeping a clean sheet.
The first half kicked off tentatively, with both sides getting past defenders only to be denied by good goalkeeping. The first breakthrough for Elsa came down the right, with Noah Wosner - dominating the midfield throughout - feeding the in-form Thomas Doherty, who finished clinically into the bottom corner. Itay Levi was also in an attacking mood, capping a fine performance with a hat trick after some clever centre forward play and strong finishing. Other goals came from Noah Wosner and Noam Maskalchi, muscling his way across goal to the near post and flicking in a pinpoint cross from Sacha Cohen Dumani. These boys were on fire!
Not to be outdone by the strikers, the defenders and goalies also put in a shift as keeping the clean sheet was no easy feat. Ofek Shtorch wouldn’t let anyone past him, tirelessly cutting out passes and holding the ball up well. Shahar Ohayon’s strength and speed meant we could play swiftly out from defence to attack on the break. Shout out also to the goalkeepers, Lenny and Brandon, who kept their composure throughout to keep the coveted clean sheet intact.
Well done to the whole team, every player put in the effort required at this level to succeed - we go again next week!
