[ISSFHK U14 Boys Football] Carmel School vs Kellett School

On Thursday 19 September, the CSA Boys’ U14 football team played Kellett School. This was to be our hardest game yet.

At the start of the game, we played equally with the other team. During the first half, we started trading attacks back and forth, trying to score goals against each other. Towards the end of the first half, we started to lose our focus and that led to us conceding our first goal, right before the referee blew the whistle. This is the worst time to concede a goal, it felt terrible.

Coach Moses and Mr O’Connell spoke to us at half time and we were all prepared to work our hardest to equalise. We were playing equally until Kellett School had a great shot going bottom left, but I made a miraculous fingertip save, which kept us in the game.

After I saved the goal, we were all motivated and worked even harder to get at least a draw. Itay played a perfect pass in the air that went straight to Raf's feet and he made no mistake with his chance to make it 1-1. Game on!. We were still in the game and there was all to play for. I made another 1v1 save against their striker, that felt really good because he was big and strong. I then sent the ball up to try to get another goal. Unfortunately, the Kellett defence was very organised and they dealt with the long ball well.

In the last 3 minutes of the game, we gave away a corner, which sadly led to a last-minute goal to Kellett. We tried our best to equalise after the goal, but it was too late. The match ended 2-1 to Kellett, but we proved that we can compete with and against the best teams in the league.
