Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis visits Carmel School

On Friday 3 March, Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis and Lady Valerie Mirvis - Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth and his wife - visited Hong Kong and came to greet all students from all three campuses of Carmel School. Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim and Lady Valerie attended the Grade 1 Siddur Celebration and were given a tour of Elsa High School. The Chief Rabbi then addressed the whole school in a special assembly. Here students reflect on his visit and what it meant to them.

The Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth and his wife visited Hong Kong. We had the privilege of inviting them to our school and giving them a tour.

The Chief Rabbi and his wife presented us with warmth and kindness as we brought them around school and connected with them through engaging conversations.

After the tour of the school the Chief Rabbi addressed the whole school in an assembly to share his past experiences in other visits and how our school was a unique visit for them. It was an honour to have this opportunity to connect and spend time with such respected figures in the greater Jewish community.

It was an honour to meet and tour the Chief Rabbi and his wife around the school. After having some joyful and meaningful discussions with them, we felt enlightened.  All students from the High School came together for a morning assembly, and to listen to the Rabbi's stories about travelling the Commonwealth and his contributions to society.

He gave us a valuable lesson in kindness and goodness, and his level of insight into humanity encourages us all to reflect on how we can become better people in the service of others.

It was a privilege to meet and converse with such distinguished members of the Jewish community. His contribution to society has rippling effects that can be felt across the entire world.
