On Friday 6 June Elsa High School students put on a dazzling Talent Show, organized by the Student Council. The annual show is an opportunity for students to display their skills in front of the school audience and show off new talents they may have learned throughout the year. Performances varied from singing, to dance troupes, to instruments, with performances from Grade 6 through to our recently graduated Grade 12 and even staff!
The event gives students a chance to express themselves and to perform in public in a completely free way, and it was absolutely brilliant. Additionally, there are students who participate in the event every year. For example, Casey Yong from Grade 11 always sings a song from musical theatre. This year, she stepped outside her comfort zone and performed a bossa nova song by Laufey. Mr. Ford, who did sang solo and performed with several other students; it was amazing to see such cooperation between staff and the student body.
The musical crew also used the talent show as an opportunity to present to the school next musical, which is going to be a hybrid of many different plays and musicals. This really built up the students’ enthusiasm. And finally, we had Jack and Tamir, two very recent alumni, surprise the school with the ‘Chubby Bunny’ Challenge on stage, which drew much laughter from the audience.
The talent show is always such a great opportunity for students to express themselves in front of a large audience and have fun.
